Our History:

San Antonio Independent Living Center (SAILS) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 and federally designated Center for Independent Living (CIL) aimed at those who reside in the Bexar County and 27 additional counties area.

Originally, SAILS was founded by the San Antonio Citizens for Handicaps (SACH) to serve as an advocacy center for people with disabilities in San Antonio and the surrounding area.

SAILS has dedicated over twenty-eight years of hard work in order to help individuals with all types of disabilities.

Since 1981, San Antonio Independent Living Services (SAILS) has worked to make San Antonio and the surrounding counties a better place to live, work, and engage in recreational events for people with disabilities.

Continuing today, SAILS helps individuals with any disability: mental, physical, cognitive, or sensory. We can assist you or your family member by teaching independent living skills, providing up-to-date information and referrals, and training individuals on how to advocate for themselves.
